ANNA PEARSE (they/them)
BACP reg. Qualified Counsellor, and Systemic Practitioner

Anna Pearse

I have been an associate therapist for The Pink Practice since 2025. I am a BACP registered and qualified counsellor and am also finishing some further training in systemic psychotherapy. Over the last ten years, I have worked in the third sector and in the NHS with adults, children and families. I identify as queer, non-binary and trans affirmative.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, polycules and families and am interested in people's sense of community membership and cultural history. In particular, I hold in mind the many expressions of sexuality, gender, neurodiversity and ethical non-monogamy. I have a particular interest in supporting couples open their relationships. Some people or relationships also carry the impact of trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, or conflict. I see counselling as situated within intersectional, social, cultural and political contexts.

My style of therapy is quite conversational and interactive. Every couple or polycule is different so I try to coordinate with people according to their preference for how to talk and guided by what they want from the therapy. My starting point is that people are always doing their best and that people look for counselling when they feel they have reached the limits of what they can or want to do on their own. We will work together to explore old and new patterns and open space for change in your relationships.

My job is to work with what you want from some sessions, to work alongside you and offer another perspective, enquire into your concerns, or make suggestions of things to try out. I try to bring creativity, playfulness, and discovery into the process to help move things beyond feeling stuck or painful. I listen and share my thinking with you openly as we go and encourage feedback and a sense of co-steering our way through conversations.

MORE ABOUT ME...

I qualified as a counsellor in 2013 and have been undertaking some further professional training in systemic therapy to meet my interest in a politicised relational way of working. I love working as an associate with The Pink Practice. It is always an honour to be working within my own queer community. It is a contrast with other settings where I have worked as counsellor and team leader.
